I’ve been using Stitch Fix for a while now. I love it, I have so many new pieces in my closet and it stops me from having to shop myself… which I hate and I’m terrible at. So I have someone do it for me and sent it to my door. I really wanted to start getting more out of my fix and I think the way to do that is to start reviewing them here. Letting my stylist see me in the clothes she picks out will help her learn my style and will allow you guys to see what’s out there and pin things for your stylist!

Tips to making the most of stitchfix
Stitch Fix Review #17
For my 17th fix (I’ve been doing this for so long!), I asked for Margaret again and made a special request for things to keep me warm in Michigan (but can also be warn in Memphis), and for tops that go with the blush pants I got in my last fix. I peaked again for this fix and like always – not that excited. But I really, clearly, need to start trusting Margaret. She has sent me 3 fixes and I’ve been willing to keep all but one item (looking at you Tulane blouse). She really listens to what I ask for, and just send things that are 100% me. For example:
Jojo Open Cardigan
My current plan is to wear this cardigan every day until I die. It’s $88 but I’m in love with it. I love the knit detail, the hood, the pockets, the length, the tan, everything.
Also, I was able to just put it on over what I was already wearing (Lawford top and blush pants from last fix! I had worn them to work and it was clearly meant to be). Seriously, this cardigan and I are going to get close. It’ll be perfect up north and it really does go with my jeans! I posted this on a board and I hope they have a bunch of these in stock because everyone wants it.
Verdict: kept kept kept ($88 original)
Capistrano Cable Knit Mittens
These mittens look like yarn vomited in a mitten form. It’s supposed to be a cable knit but it all just kind of blend into everything in a tuft of mangled terrible yarn. Don’t get me wrong, they’re nice and warm but they are not quality. You can see the lining showing through. I’m going to send some pictures to stitch fix to question them, but they’re warm and I could see them as simple driving gloves. Plus with the keep 5 discount, it’s $50 cheaper to keep them.
Yonsi V-Neck Pullover Sweater and Kristin Fleece Line Leggings
This sweater is plain jane, but it goes great with those pants. I love the knit detailing, and the length in the back. It’s a low v-neck but as a no chested lady it doesn’t really bother me.
I love the slouchiness and it’s nice and cozy. And it goes with the Kristin fleece lined leggings in the box. These are a gorgeous burgundy and they’re so incredibly soft. I also appreciate the length of the sweater so I can wear it with these leggings.
Sweater Verdict: Kept ($68)
Leggings Verdict: Kept ($38)
Annabeth Faux Leather Trim Sweater Tunic
I just need to talk about how much I thought I was going to hate this. Hearing “faux leather trim” and only finding pictures of it in black and it being a tunic are all things that would make me think “nope, it’ll be a pass” but oh was I wrong. This tunic is so soft! It’s so long! And worn as Margaret intended it’s so christmasy!
It has a nice little keyhole in the back, it’s a beautiful dark green and wearing it with the leggings is so comfortable. Add the cardigan to it and boom:
So stylishly cozy. (Please ignore the hanging tank top… I was having drier issues!)
Verdict: Kept of course ($68)
This is an amazing fix. It can incorporate nicely into my wardrobe, it is going to be so nice and cozy up north and through the coldish Memphis winter and it is just my style to a T.
Stitch Fix Review #16
This is another beautiful fix from Margaret! I requested more sweater weather stuff and color. I cheated and looked at what I was getting before the fix came and I’m not going to lie – I was not excited about it. There’s an awful lot of black and white in here for a color request, a faux leather jacket, a tan sweater. I was concerned but I really shouldn’t be. Margaret seems like she just really get my style and I absolutely love her.
Level 99 Giovanni Straight Leg Jeans in Light Pink – $98
Honestly, I would never pick these up on my own. I’m afraid of light/pastel colors and they were pricey. But these are honestly the most comfortable jeans I’ve ever put on and the color is so cute and works well with both some nice and casual shirts I own. Did I mention they’re so comfortable?
Verdict: Kept
Market & Spruce Lawford Knit Top – $58
I pinned a very similar shirt a while ago so I was really pleased to see this show up. It would go really well with any of my colored pants and seriously, it’s so soft. I know I said that about the pants but comfort is so important to me. I love this shirt for its ability to be casual and dressy for work. It wrinkles a little easily but other than that it’s great!
Verdict – Kept
Pixley Lilica Pullover Sweater
I honestly really like this sweater. I normally hate that color but for some reason I liked it on me with this and it is so warm. BUT I had to be real with myself – over the winter when I lose some of my tan it’s the one color in the world that doesn’t go with my skin tone, the arms were tight (I’m from a family of larger armed girls, this is a common problem for us) and it was just a little itchy for my sensitive skin. Now, the thing with stitchfix though, is if you keep all 5 you get a discount and this is such a cute sweater I had no problem finding someone who wanted it. So I kept it for them.
Verdict: Kept for someone else – not for me
Kut From the Kloth Michael Faux Leather Jacket – $78
Have I ever returned something from Kut From the Kloth? I honestly don’t think I have. I love this brand. This is another stitchfix exclusive from them. I wasn’t excited to see I was getting another faux leather jacket after I sent back one a couple of fixes ago (with my old stylist), but man this one is so cute. The cut of it it cute and less harsh than the previous one and the color is great!
It was sent to me in an extra small and while I think it looks awesome on me in this picture the arms (a common tread in this fix!) were just too small so I contacted customer service and they sized it up for me. Seriously, stitchfix has amazing customer servicer.
Verdict: Kept
Papermoon Tulane Button Front Blouse – $48
This was for sure the “one of these things is not like the other” piece of the fix. While I’m pretty sure I’ve kept everything from Kut from the Kloth, I’m positive I have returned everything from papermoon. This top is really just all wrong on me. I think they’re top pattern is just shorter than other brands so it creates a weird boxy shape on my longer torso. Pair that with the gold stud buttons (not my style) and the color blocking to accentuate the boxiness of this top it was just a dud. Now with the keep 5 discount it was cheaper to keep this than send it back so i found someone who liked it and gave it to them.
Verdict: Gave to someone else
So a 3.5/5 this time round! And since I was able to find keepers for the items that just didn’t work for me I got a 25% discount. I seriously love my new stylist. Even the misses were fairly close and I’m loving it!
Fix #15 – a 5/5
I’m skipping a few fixes because for one I no longer have the card or know what anything was called and for the other I no longer have the card and I hated all of it, which was unfortunate. For this fix I got a new stylist named Margaret who just absolutely nailed my style. I asked for sweater weather stuff and boy did I get it.
Fierro Elbow Patch Crew Neck Sweater – $58
This sweater is so cute. I love the shoulder patch and how soft it is. Normally I wouldn’t keep something so plain but I don’t actually have a plain gray sweater and I think the elbow patch makes it something special. Plus I’m part of a stitchfix board where this sweater is coveted so I’m happy to have it.
Verdict: Kept
Also pictured: Kut from the Kloth Red Corduroy from fix 13, which I wear all the time and get so many compliments on.
La Roda Pullover Sweater – $68 & Dayna Skinny Jean – $88
This sweater is kind of plain jane but honestly, I put it on and didn’t take it off. It actually shows off my shape rather than hiding it and it’s so warm.
The jeans in this picture are more Kut from the Kloth – according to the tag they’re a stitchfix exclusive. I had pinned a pair of Olive jeans on my board and that’s exactly what these are. They’re comfortable and are much greener than they look in this picture (I have no idea why they’re so brown here!). Basically, at work every day I either wear black slacks or black jeans – but NOW I can shake it up with my red corduroy or these Olive jeans. Basically I’m trying to get a rainbow of jeans so I can stop wearing slouchy slacks to work.
Verdict: Kept and Kept
Brielle Dress
This dress is so cute and classy. It’s a little short in this picture but I felt totally comfortable with the length with it on. Plus it has sleeves which means It’s perfect for work. I can imagine wearing it with tights or leggings this winter and covering it with the jacket she also sent.
Verdict: Kept
Mally Ponte Jacket – $88
I was apprehensive about this jacket, because of the price and the look of it closed in pictures I’ve seen. But man, this thing is the perfect weight and feel. I love that opened it looks like an amazing cardigan and closed it’s actually pretty cute. Plus really, it’s nice and warm which is PERFECT for fall/winter in Memphis, since it doesn’t really get much colder outside than this jacket.
Verdict: Kept
Fix #12
Stratford Knit Top and Denna Skinny Jeans
I had to sit on this top for the full 3 days. On one hand the material is awesome and I love the patter and colors, on the other I’m not a huge fan of how the sleeves were cut. The armpit hole goes quite low and I don’t think the bird sleeves are the best on me but it’s a great casual top so it hung around in the end.
The Jeans are amazing though. I’ve been sent this brand (Kut from the Kloth) before and they fit perfectly.
Verdict: Kept and Kept
Hasset V-Neck Top
Honestly, this top looks really cute on in these pictures, and I sat on this shirt for the whole 3 days without making a decision as well. But it’s one of those shirts that I could never wear while having a fat day. I love the mixed material and pattern pocket and back and the shape isn’t awful but the low v just is too low for me to comfortably wear to work – which is where I would wear it.
Verdict: Sadly returned
Deana Floral Dress
This dress is brightly colored with a big pattern and the material and the pattern really just make this look childlike. It’s stiffer so it doesn’t really flow along with the body and there’s just so much fabric. First putting it on it looks like a potato sack that tries to get a waist line with a pull string. But it really ends up giving no shape. While the dress from last stitch screamed old, this one screams child. No shape, bright colored, boring neckline.
Verdict: Returned
Abrianna Longsleeve Knit Cardigan
Honestly this was a nice cardigan, but I already have a black cardigan and it’s was just too similar/plain for me to keep it. If it were I color I would have kept it but alas.
Verdict: Returned
What is Stitch Fix?
Basically, you go to a website, fill out a style profile, pin a bunch of things on a pinterest board and then once every 2-3 weeks, once a month, or once every few months (you get to set the frequency and schedule your fixes) you get a box of 5 items. The flat rate per box is $20 for a styling fee. If you keep anything, that $20 is taken out of your total and if you keep all 5 things you get an extra 25% discount. If you get nothing, you’re out $20.
I get a fix every 3 weeks or so because my closet is a terrible place and I need to inject new pieces in it often. I’ve been doing it for a good number of weeks so I pretty much wear something I purchased from them daily. In fact today’s outfit is 100% stitch fix:
The black skinny jeans were in an early fix and I wear them regularly (though less frequently now that it’s warm and sunny but they’re an amazing pair of pants). I like the cardigan because it adds color to an otherwise colorless look and while I don’t normally wear peach it works really well here. The top has a flutter sleeve and is an awesome material, I’ll also wear it regularly and it goes so well with some other pieces I’ve been sent, like this amazing skirt
It’s an adorable bright pink flippy skirt I got sent for Valentine’s day after requesting something cute. I wear it regularly now.
How to make the most of your fix
- Really fill out your style profile smartly. I thought I’d love getting cute necklaces but then I realized, after getting one in multiple fixes that I don’t really swap my necklaces much. I have one I wear every day, so getting so many was a waste of a piece. I also don’t like certain colors so I’ve made note of that there.
- Pinterest. My stylist was getting things all wrong and I began to pin up a storm and she really started to understand my style. In fact, I pinned a polka dot tank top and in my next fix there it was. I wear it with red pants, skirts, and these amazing skinny jeans I got in a previous fix.
- Leave comments: When you’re checking out, use all your characters to describe why you loved, hated or just didn’t love a piece. Stylists aren’t mind readers, it’s how they learn your style
- Don’t buy something you don’t 100% love. I’ve bought a couple of things I wasn’t sure about and now they’re just setting in the back of my closet… or in a bag on the way to good will. The number one complaint I hear about stitchfix is the price of the pieces, but by buying only things I really love I’m paying for the convenience and my laziness and that’s totally worth it to me
- Tell them about special occasions or trends you love. I got pieces to wear for Valentine’s Day, which was amazingly convenient and when I told my stylist I was obsessed with polka dots she gave me polka dots. I currently own 2 polka dot skirts, a a polka dot top and I love them all.
- If the price of something isn’t worth it to you, don’t buy it. The cost of the top above was a little more expensive than I normally would pay for a top but I wear it all the time and it was worth it to me. Last fix I was sent a necklace that I adored and was totally me, but it was absolutely not worth the $44 price, so I returned it. It’s all about using Stitch Fix to fit your needs and comfort.
- Try everything on. This one is a big one. Sometimes I look at something and say “no way will that look good on me” and then I put it on and I’m so pleasantly surprised.
- Request the same stylist. My stylist, up until this fix, was Kira and she totally rocks. I’m going to have to check why I have a new stylist this week. While the shift wasn’t dramatic, there was for sure a different feel to the box.
- But don’t be afraid to ask for a change of stylist. Sometimes you just don’t mesh with someone or your style just don’t come across to them. If you’re getting frustrated, try to shake it up – but don’t give up that easily.
- Refer friends. For everyone you refer you get $25 in credit when they receive their first fix. In fact, if you use any of the links in this blog to sign up, I’ll get $25 in stitch fix credit. Which is half a shirt!
Try it! It’s fun and for someone who really hates going to the store and shopping for herself, it’s great. It’s also helped me find my own style and buy pieces I never would before. Have any questions? Ask away! I know a lot of people are skeptical but I’m a clear believer in this service.
*Signing up for stitch fix using the links in this post get me a small stitch fix credit (when you sign up you get a link to share to receive credits as well!). This has not swayed my opinion of anything in my boxes and I write about everything with an honest opinion.
