A friend at work and I have implemented Tea Time. Which basically means every Wednesday one of us will bake something and we’ll put out a kettle with tea and tell the office to take a break for 5 minutes and eat and have tea. It’s very cute and a nice thing to do to break up a Wednesday. So it was my turn to make something and I wanted the easiest thing possible to make and turns out this was it. Cheese-y, green oniony, beer bread from here. I made it in little bread pans so it would serve a large group of people. It turned out delicious. My boyfriend and I pretty much ate all 8 butts of bread because it was so good.
Cheese-y Beer Bread
Ingredients
- 1 cup shredded cheese, reserve 1/4 cup for topping the bread (I used a shredded cheese mix)
- 1/4 cup chopped green onion
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 12 ounces of beer (1 bottle) (I used blue moon)
- 1 tbsp honey
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375F. Grease your bread pans or line with parchment paper. You can use one standard bread loaf pan of mini ones.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and baking powder. Add 1 1/2 cups of the shredded cheese and green onion; toss together so that everything is well combined.
- Add the beer and honey to the flour mixture. Mix until all ingredients are incorporated and there are no dry bits of flour.
- Divide the dough between the loaf pans and smooth the top of the dough. Bake for about 40-50 minutes (at the halfway mark, pull the bread out and cover the tops with the reserved 1/4 cup of shredded cheese. Place back into oven and continue baking), or until the top of the loaves is a golden brown and a tester inserted into the center of the loaves comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes then move to a cooling rack. You can wait for it to completely cool or just eat it right then, because it's delicious.
