Happy March! I’ll be getting 2 fixes this month so I’ll post my second box here when it comes!
If you haven’t heard of stitch fix, it’s a personal stylist box that gets shipped to you ever 2-3 weeks, once a month, once every 2 months, however often you want! You create an account, fill out a style profile, link them to your Pinterest board (this is pretty key to getting a good box!) and get a box with 5 items, then you keep what you want and send the rest back. There’s a $20 stylist fee that gets taken off your total if you buy something, and if you buy all 5 you get 25% off! Plus, you get a little note from your stylist with advice on stylings.
It’s basically stress free since I don’t have to leave home, which is amazing.
This month I asked Margaret for a dress for a wedding I’m going to in April and some spring pants. I was excited to have her back! Her notes always make me laugh:
This fix is so fun and colorful so I was so excited to try it all on!
Dear John Avril Floral Printed Skinny Jean
These, 100% are out of my comfort zone, Margaret wasn’t kidding. But I was surprised by how much I didn’t hate them! The print was actually really fun!
Dear John pants though, are apparently not for me though. I’ve always had troubles with finding pants so I was excited to find Kut from the Kloth and Level99 that fit so well! Unfortunately, these pants really bring back those memories. They fit me good in the butt, a little too big on the hips, and way too tight in the thighs and calves. I have muscular legs so the tiny leg opening and the crop just doesn’t work on me.
Also, I’m still not sold on shorter, cropped pants. So sadly this has been returned. But I loved being pushed out of my comfort zone! Maybe one day I’ll get a pair of silly printed pants!
Verdict: Returned ($88)
Market and Spruce Sam Hi-Lo Short Sleeve Tee
Seen above as well, this is a cute little high-top. It’s a nice heathered gray and is nice and soft.
It’s kind of just a gray shirt, so I’m not 100% sure if I need it. Margaret’s really trying to stuff my closet full of gray! It’s actually cute and soft though. The high-low kind of highlights my butt curve which is fun.
Verdict: Still thinking, what do you think? ($44)
Dresses next!
Andrew Marc Caryn Dress
The style card claims this is red, but it’s pretty pink. I love the vibrant color and I love the neckline. I think high necklines looks good on me and this one is really cute! PLUS, it has pockets. Who doesn’t love a dress with pockets?!
Again though, the fit is just off a bit. It feels like it fits fine around the waist, it’s a little big but nothing substantial, but the bust area is just too roomy, which is especially noticeable with the darting. Add the pleating to that and I kind of felt like I was drowning in fabric.
Verdict: Returned ($64)
Brixon Ivy James Laser Cut Dress
I think this dress is really cute. It’s a nice material, the cut outs are a nice on the skirt and it has a cute little keyhole back. I also love the color.
But just like with the Caryn dress, this one was too big in the bust. It felt fine around the middle but with the darts, it’s really obvious I’m not filling out this dress. I also feel like it looks a bit junior on me. Then again with the pleats and the big bust, I feel like I’m drowning in material again a little.
Being between sizes/multiple sizes is annoying!
Verdict: Returned ($78)
Bay to Baubles Abigail Gemstone Stud Earrings
These are pretty, but they are big little studs! They seem a good quality, just not really my colors and are a little bulky on my ear. I’d prefer something lighter? Like a string earring or something?
Sometimes it’s hard to style me because I don’t know what I like!
Verdict: Returned ($28)
So what happened here? Things just didn’t fit. It happens. It happens while shopping – especially with dresses and pants. So a bad luck box really.
This box was mostly totally me, and things I would wear, they just didn’t really fit. I could email stitch fix about it (customer service is truly amazing) but because it’s all fit issues rather than size issues there’s nothing they can do.
I’ll probably keep the high-low top to save my stylist fee – plus paying $24 for a t-shirt is not bad at all! I’m not discouraged by this, I’m excited for my next fix and more amazingly fun things to try on!

*Signing up for stitch fix using the links in this post get me a small stitch fix credit (when you sign up you get a link to share to receive credits as well!). This has not swayed my opinion of anything in my boxes and I write about everything with an honest opinion.
As an example, was the full cost of the shirt $44 but you saved the $20 stylist fee so now you are paying $24 for the shirt? Or do they just waive the stylist fee if you buy at least one thing and for the shirt the full price was $24? I hate shopping. I like Kut from the Kloth too that is how I ended up reading your cool blog 😉
So technically the shirt is still $44, but the stylist fee is waived. If I didn’t keep the shirt it would have been $20, by keeping the shirt I paid $44, so I’m only down $24.
So an invoice would look like this:
Shirt: $44
Stylist fee: -$20 (since this is paid when the box is shipped)
Total: $24
Hope that helps!
